Clinical observation of combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in the treatment of hypertensive elderly patients with hyperlipidemia

Objective To evaluate the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in treatment of primary hypertensive complicated with hyperlipidemia among el-derly patients.Methods A total of 135 hypertensive patients with hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into group A and B,and they were given western medicine only and combined Chinese medicine and western medicine therapy,respectively.Blood pressure,blood-lipoid indexes and hemorheology were observed after treatment.Results The difference in recovery rate of blood pressure was no significant between two groups(P >0.05);There were significant differences in blood pressure,blood-lipoid indexes and hemorheology before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05,P <0.01),and changes of those indexes were significant difference between two groups (P <0.05,P <0.01).Conclusion Compared with western therapy,combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine is superior and safe for elderly hypertensive patients with hyperlipi-demia.
