Clinical observation of combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in the treatment of hypertensive elderly patients with hyperlipidemia

  • Objective To evaluate the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in treatment of primary hypertensive complicated with hyperlipidemia among el-derly patients.Methods A total of 135 hypertensive patients with hyperlipidemia were randomly divided into group A and B,and they were given western medicine only and combined Chinese medicine and western medicine therapy,respectively.Blood pressure,blood-lipoid indexes and hemorheology were observed after treatment.Results The difference in recovery rate of blood pressure was no significant between two groups(P >0.05);There were significant differences in blood pressure,blood-lipoid indexes and hemorheology before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05,P <0.01),and changes of those indexes were significant difference between two groups (P <0.05,P <0.01).Conclusion Compared with western therapy,combination of Chinese medicine and western medicine is superior and safe for elderly hypertensive patients with hyperlipi-demia.
