Abstract:
Objective To explore the clinical value of serum ferritin (SF)in occurrence of macroangiopathy in male patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods Clinical mate-rials of 70 male patients with T2DM were analyzed retrospectively.Differences between two groups (T2DM with carotid artery disease and T2DM without carotid artery disease)were compare and analyzed by multivariable Logistic regression. Results Compare with T2DM without carotid artery disease group, the level of SF significantly increased in carotid artery disease group.Spear-man analysis showed that the level of SF had a remarkable positive correlation with carotid artery disease, body mass index, hemoglobin A1C,triglyceride and index of insulin resistance respectively (P <0.05)and a negative correlation with high density lipoprotein(P <0.05).However,there was no correlation between SF level, low density lipoprotein and total cholesterol. Conclusion In-creasing SF level is positively correlated with the development of atherosclerosis in male patients with T2DM,which can be used to reflect the macroangiopathy in male patients with T2DM.
