Abstract:
Objective To explore the effect of prednisone in prevention of Jihai reaction during primary syphilis penicillin treatment.
Methods A total of 68 patients with primary syphilis treated with penicillin in our hospital were randomly divided into control group and observation group according to the random number table method, with 34 cases in each group. The control group did not use drugs to prevent Jihai reaction during penicillin treatment, while the observation group used prednisone to prevent Jihai reaction during penicillin treatment. The incidence of Jihai reaction were compared between the two groups.
Results There were 1 case of high fever and chills (2.94%), 2 cases of rapid breathing (5.88%) and 1 case of headache (2.94%) in the observation group, and 4 cases of high fever and chills (11.76%), 3 cases of rapid breathing (8.82%), 2 cases of headache (5.88%) and 1 case of nausea and vomiting (2.94%) in the control group. The incidence of Jihai reaction in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(5.88%vs. 17.65%, P < 0.05).
Conclusion Prednisone can effectively prevent the Jihai reaction of patients during the first stage of syphilis penicillin treatment.
