Abstract:
Objective To explore the application of comprehensive geriatric assessment(CGA)in rehabilitation treatment of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).
Methods A total of 82 elderly patients with COPD were randomly divided into observation group(
n=41)and control group(
n=41). All patients received CGA and conventional treatment. On this basis, the observation group was additionally given individualized rehabilitation treatment according to the CGA results. The results of evaluation scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and lung function indicators were measured by pulmonary function instrument.
Results After treatment, the scores of physical function, mental function, ability of daily living(ADL)and social function of the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the scores of above indicators in the observation group after treatment were significantly higher than those of the control group(
P<0.05). After treatment, the COPD assessment test(CAT)scores of the two groups were significantly lower than before treatment(
P<0.05). After treatment, forced vital capacity(FVC), forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV
1), peak expiratory flow(PEF), and ratio of forced expiratory capacity in the first second to forced vital capacity(FEV
1/FVC)in the two groups were all higher than that before treatment, and were significantly higher in the observation group than those in the control group(
P<0.05).
Conclusion The application of CGA in the elderly patients with COPD can enhance the self-management, and promote rehabilitation.
