Abstract:
For most treatments of major neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease, how to provide therapeutic drugs across the blood-brain barrier (BBB) remains a problem that needs to be solved. Focused ultrasound (FUS) is a technology for BBB opening. By applying acoustic energy to the targeted brain area, the BBB can be targeted opened noninvasively, safely and temporarily, which provides a way for macromolecular drugs to enter the brain from the systemic circulation, and opens a new situation for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. This article reviewed the application status and research progress of FUS in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases in order to provide reference for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
