Clinical value of IL-6 and IL-8 in monitoring chorioamnionitis of pregnant women with premature rupture of membrane

  • Objective To explore the clinical value of interleukin-6 (IL-6)and interleukin-8 (IL-8)in monitoring chorioamnionitis of pregnant women with premature rupture of membrane (PROM).Methods Forty-five pregnant women with PROM delivered in our hospital were select-ed as research group, and 30 normal pregnant women in our hospital were collected as control group at the same term. The levels of serum IL-6 and IL-8 in both groups were detected with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA),and the fetal membrane tissues were taken to conduct patho-logical examination after delivery. Results The levels of serum IL-6 and IL-8 in research group were significantly higher than in control group, with statistical significance.According to the patho-logical examination on fetal membrane tissues,28 patients (62.2%)were diagnosed as chorioam-nionitis (infection group),and 17 ones (37.8%)were not (non-infection group). The levels of serum IL-6 and IL-8 in infection group were significantly higher than in non-infection group,in which significant differences were presented. Conclusion Joint detection of IL-6 and IL-8 in serum of pregnant women can be used as the important index for monitoring PROM combined with chorioamnionitis.
