Risk factors of infection after orthopedic internal fixation in patients with spinal trauma

  • Objective To analyse the risk factors of infection after orthopedic internal fixa-tion in patients with spinal trauma. Methods Clinical materials of spinal trauma patients with or-thopedic internal fixation were retrospectively analyzed. Results 212 patients were analyzed.45 patients had postoperative infection (Group A)and 167 patients without postoperative infection. The logistic regression analysis showed that age≥60 years, open wounds, use of glucocorticosteroids and combined diabetes were the independent risk factors of postoperative infection for the patients with spinal trauma. Conclusion More attentions should be paid on the spinal trauma patients with features of age≥60 years, open wounds, use of glucocorticosteroids and diabetes in order to low the postoperative infection.
