Effect of the continued self-management education on the health knowledge level and self-care ability of patients with CHD

  • Objective To investigate the effect of the continued self-management education on the health knowledge level and self-care ability of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods A total of 80 patients with coronary heart disease(CHD) treated in our hospital were randomly divided into control group (40 cases) and observation group (40 cases) according to the random number table method. The patients in the control group received the conventional health education and the patients in the observation group were additionally provided continued self-management education.Patients of two groups were followed up for two years.Disease rehabilitation awareness, secondary prevention behavior,self-care ability, blood glucose and lipid levels were compared. Results After intervention, rehabilitation knowledge, secondary intervention behavior score and selfcare ability scores in observation group were significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05).After intervention,TC,TG,HDL-C,blood sugar level of both groups were significantly improved, and LDL-C level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the other indices was significantly lower, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).Conclusion Continued self-management education can effectively improve patient's health knowledge and self-care ability, improve blood lipid and blood sugar, and is conducive to rehabilitation and prognosis of patients with CHD.
