Effect of Chinese and western medicine treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients

  •   Objective  To evaluate effect of traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
      Methods  A total of 108 advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients in the study were divided into two groups according to the proportion of 1 to 1 matching principle. The control group (n=54) was given pure chemotherapy treatment, while the observation group(n=54) conducted Jianpi Yishen Decoction combined with chemotherapy. Treatment effects of different methods were compared.
      Results  The observation group had higher effectiveness rate in improvement of TCM symptoms, Karnofsky function status (KPS) score than the control group, the improvement of immune function was better, and the incidence of adverse reactions was lower than the control group(P < 0.05).
      Conclusion  Traditional Chinese and western medical treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer can effectively improve the patient′s immune function index and quality of life.
