Objective To analyze the influencing factors of mental health status and sleep quality in patients with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) positive infection.
Methods Totally 208 patients with gastrointestinal discomfort who underwent 13C breath test in the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University from March to September 2018 were investigated by Gastrointestinal Symptom Scale, Kessler 10 Scale and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).
Results Univariate analysis showed that Kessler 10 scale was correlated with gender, alcohol consumption, appetite for spicy food, current Hp status, abdominal pain, abdominal distention, acid reflux, heartburn, belching, gastrointestinal severity and frequency of gastrointestinal attacks (P < 0.05), and multivariate analysis showed that the current Hp status and frequency of gastrointestinal attacks were the influencing factors (P < 0.05). Univariate analysis showed that the PSQI scale was correlated with gender, appetite for spicy food, current Hp status, abdominal pain, abdominal distension, acid reflux, diarrhea, belching, gastrointestinal severity and frequency of gastrointestinal attacks (P < 0.05), and multivariate analysis showed that gender, current Hp status and frequency of gastrointestinal attacks were influencing factors (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Hp infection can affect patient′s mental health status and sleep quality.
