Status of psychiatric rehabilitation and improvement measures of inpatients with mental illness in Nantong District

  Objective  To investigate the rehabilitation status of inpatients with mental illness in Nantong area.

  Methods  A self-made questionnaire and on-the-spot survey were used to investigate the mental rehabilitation status of 200 inpatients in 9 psychiatric specialized hospitals in Nantong from September to October 2018.

  Result   A total of 192 valid questionnaires were collected, of which 91.7% patients partially understood or did not understand the concept of mental rehabilitation; 31.8% patients thought that mental rehabilitation had no significance; 46.4% patients did not or seldom participate in mental rehabilitation treatment; 95.8% patients were willing to participate in mental rehabilitation treatment; 46.4% patients could not afford to treatment costs of mental rehabilitation.

  Conclusion  Psychiatric hospitals at all levels should attach importance to mental rehabilitation treatment, actively innovate mental rehabilitation model, improve rehabilitation treatment system and popularize rehabilitation knowledge. Government departments should further increase investment in mental rehabilitation work, continuously expand the benefits and participation of rehabilitation treatment of inpatients with mental illness, so as to enable more patients to achieve mental rehabilitation.
