Efficiency observation of surgery combined with Xiaozhong Decoction in treatment of elderlypatients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur

  Objective  To explore the clinical effect of operation combined with Xiaozhong Decoction in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur.

  Methods  Totally 80 elderly patients with femoral intertrochanteric fracture were divided into two groups according to drawing lots, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with surgery, while the study group was treated with surgery and Xiaozhong Decoction. The therapeutic effect was compared between the two groups.

  Results  On the 3^rd, 5^th and 7^th day after operation, the swelling degree of affected limbs in the study group was significantly lower than that in the control group, and the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The healing time of fracture in the study group was significantly shorter than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The Harris score in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group at 1, 3 and 6 months after operation (P < 0.05).

  Conclusion  Operation combined with Xiaozhong Decoction is effective in the treatment of elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur, which can promote the alleviation of swelling of affected limbs, shorten the healing time of fracture and improve the function of hip joint.
