New progress in the treatment of temporomandibular disorder by intra-articular injection

Temporomandibular disorder(TMD)is a disease with high incidence and cure difficulty. In the past, conservative therapy was used to treat TMD, but the effect was not good. Surgical treatment has many disadvantages, such as large trauma, high cost, difficult to be accepted by patients and so on. Intra-articular injection therapy has the advantages of obvious curative effect, reversible injury and simple manipulation, which is easy to be accepted by patients. With the development of pharmacology, the improvement of tissue engineering technology and the understanding of the mechanism of use of multiple drugs, intra-articular injection therapy has gradually shown more excellent results. This study reviews the new progress of intra-articular injection therapy.
