Effect observation of modified Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction in treatment of patients with gout in acute phase differentiated as type of cold-dampness obstruction

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of modified Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction in the treatment of patients with gout in acute phase differentiated as type of cold-dampness obstruction. Methods Totally 110 patients with gout in acute phase differentiated as type of cold-dampness obstruction were randomly divided into control group(n=53)and intervention group(n=57). The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, while the intervention group was treated with modified Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The changes of uric acid(UA), visual analogue scale(VAS), C reactive protein(CRP)and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR)were compared before and after treatment. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in VAS score, UA, CRP and ESR between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the VAS score, UA, CRP and ESR levels in both groups significantly improved when compared with those before treatment, and the indexes in the intervention group were significantly better than the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, - the effective rate of the intervention group was 91.23%, which was significantly higher than 84.91%of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Western medicine combined with modified Guizhi Shaoyao Zhimu Decoction is better than western medicine alone in the treatment of patients with gout in acute phase differentiated as type of cold-dampness obstruction.
