Objective To observe the clinical effect of moxibustion on umbilicus and Qiwei Baizhu Powder on diarrheal irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)differentiated as spleen deficiency and dampness.
Methods A total of 60 patients with IBS-D differentiated as spleen deficiency and dampness who met the diagnosis and inclusion criteria were selected. The observation group was treated with moxibustion and Qiwei Baizhu Powder, and the control group was treated with pinaverium bromide. The treatment lasted for 4 weeks as a course. The TCM syndrome score of IBS-D was evaluated before and after treatment, and the patients were followed up for 1 month, 2 and 3 months after treatment, and the recurrence conditions of these patients were observed.
Results After treatment, diarrhea, borborygmus, abdominal pain and other symptoms were improved in both groups, and the TCM syndrome score of IBS-D in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group was 90.00%, which was significantly higher than 43.33% of the control group (P < 0.05). The recurrence rate of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P < 0.05).
Conclusion Moxibustion on umbilicus and Qiwei Baizhu Powder has better clinical efficacy than simple oral administration of pinaverium bromide in patients with IBS-D differentiated as spleen deficiency and dampness, which can effectively reduce the recurrence rate after treatment, and relieve the pain of IBS-D patients.
