Study on traditional Chinese medicine colon dialysis combined with hemodialysis for patients with uremia

Objective To observe the effect of traditional Chinese medicine colon dialysis combined with hemodialysis for patients with uremia. Methods Eighty-nine patients with uremia in our hospital were divided into two groups by random number table method, and were given basic symptomatic treatment. The control group(n=44)was treated by hemodialysis, while the observation group(n=45)was treated by colonic dialysis based on the control group. Changes in renal function, inflammatory factor levels, and toxin levels were observed after treatment. Results The levels of blood urea nitrogen(BUN), serum creatinine(Scr), serum uric acid(UA), C-reactive protein(CRP), interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), parathyroid hormone(PTH), β₂-microglobulin(β₂-MG)and indoxol sulfate(IS)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after treatment(P<0.05). Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine colon dialysis combined with hemodialysis can effectively improve the inflammatory status of uremic patients, reduce the level of uremic toxins, and improve renal function.
