Effect of Shexiang Baoxin Pills on endothelial microparticles content in peripheral blood of patients with syndrome X

  •   Objective  To explore the effect of Shexiang Baoxin Pills on endothelial microparticles (EMPs) content in peripheral blood of patients with syndrome X.
Methods  Totally 75 patients diagnosed as syndrome X were selected and content of EMPs in peripheral blood was detected after blood collection, and the content of EMPs was compared with healthy people. They were randomly divided into two groups, control group was treated with western medicines such as nitrates and β receptor blockers, while the study group was treated with Shexiang Baoxin Pills. The content of EMPs before and after treatment, the score of Seattle Angina Questionnaire and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.
Results  The content of EMPs in peripheral blood of 75 patients in this study was (2.01±0.71)%, which was significantly higher than (0.50±0.34)% in the 71 healthy people (P < 0.05). After treatment, the EMPs content in the study group decreased significantly, and was also significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the score of Seattle Angina Questionnaire increased significantly in the study group, and was also significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the ratio of patients with adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).
Conclusion  Shexiang Baoxin Pills can effectively reduce the content of EMPs in the peripheral blood of patients with syndrome X, positively regulate vascular endothelial function, relieve the related symptoms of patients, and cause less adverse reactions.
