Objective To observe the effect of acupuncture combined with modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction on rehabilitation of patients with limb hemiplegia after stroke.
Methods A total of 93 patients with limb hemiplegia after stroke were selected as study objects, they were divided into control group (n=47) and observation group (n=46). Patients of two groups were given routine symptomatic comprehensive treatment, the control group was treated with modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction, and observation group was given acupuncture based on control group. The efficacy, limb motor function, activity of daily living and TCM syndrome score in two groups were observed.
Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (93.48% versus 78.72%, P < 0.05). After treatment, the Fugl-Meyer Assessment score for motor function and Barthel index score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the TCM syndrome score was lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Rehabilitation effect of acupuncture combined with modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction in treatment of patients with limb hemiplegia after stroke is better than that of single modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction, it can promote rehabilitation of limb function, and increase limb movement and activity of daily living.
