Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of modified Huatan Xiaoyu Recipe and conventional western medicine in the treatment of gastric precancerous lesions (PLGC).
Methods A total of 82 cases with chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) combined with dysplasia (Dys) and intestinal metaplasia (IM) were randomly divided into two groups, with 41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional western medicine, while the treatment group was treated with modified Huatan Xiaoyu Recipe, with a course of 6 months. The clinical efficacy, TCM syndrome scores and pathological scores under gastroscope were compared in the two groups.
Results The total effective rate of the treatment group was 92.68%, which was significantly higher than 73.17% of the control group (P < 0.05). The scores of TCM syndromes (stomach pain, poor appetite, belching, acid reflux, distention and fullness as well as noise in the stomach) in the two groups were significantly lower than that before treatment, and the scores of all syndromes in the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the pathological scores (atrophy, IM, Dys) of the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and were significantly lower in the treatment group than those of the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Modified Huatan Xiaoyu Recipe is effective in the treatment of PLGC, which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms, reduce the pathological scores of atrophy, IM and Dys, and even reverse PLGC. Compared with the conventional treatment of western medicine, it has obvious advantages, and the clinical effect is safe and reliable.
