Objective To observe the effect of Busui Tongqiao Yinao Decoction combined with Jin's three-needle therapy on cerebral hemodynamics in patients with vascular dementia.
Methods A total of 114 patients in the cerebrovascular clinic of Sanya City Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2020 to May 2021 were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group, with 57 cases in each group. The control group was orally taken donepezil hydrochloride tablets, while the study group was treated with Busui Tongqiao Yinao Decoction and Jin's three-needle therapy on the basis of the control group. Therapeutic effect was compared between the two groups; the scores of syndromes of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE), the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR), the Activity of Daily LivingScale (ADL) and the cerebral hemodynamic indexesbilateral middle cerebral artery (MCA), basilar artery (BA), anterior artery (ACA), posterior artery (PCA) before and after treatment were compared between two groups.
Results The total effective rate in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05); the scores of syndromes of traditional Chinese medicine such as forgetfulness, loss of intelligence, indifferent expression, backache and soft legs as well as dizziness and tinnitus after treatment in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); the MMSE score and ADL score after treatment in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the CDR score was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.05); the MCA, BA, ACA and PCA in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group after treatment (P<0.05).
Conclusion Busui Tongqiao Yinao Decoction combined with Jin's three-needle therapy is helpful to improve the symptoms of traditional Chinese medicine and cerebral hemodynamic indexes in patients with vascular dementia differentiated as syndrome of kidney deficiency and phlegm stasis, reduce the degree of dementia, enhance the independent living ability and daily living ability, and increase clinical efficacy.
