Objective To observe the curative effect of "sports acupuncture" or "common acupuncture" respectively combined with Biqi Capsules in treating patients with sports-induced soft tissue injury during ice and snow sports.
Methods A total of 80 patients with sports-induced soft tissue injury(lumbar sprain) in ice and snow sports were divided into control group (n=40, given "ordinary acupuncture" combined with Biqi Capsules) and the study group (n=40, given "sports acupuncture" combined with Biqi Capsules) according to the random number table method. The clinical efficacy, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score and lumbar motion of anterior flexion, posterior extension, lateral flexion and lateral rotation were compared.
Results The total effective rate of the study group showed no obvious difference compared with that of the control group (P>0.05); the cure and remarkable rate was higher in the study group than that of the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores of both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the study group was lower than the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the range of motion of lumbar vertebra in both groups increased compared with those before treatment, and were greater in the study group than those in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion "Sports acupuncture" combined with Biqi Capsules has an obvious curative effect in treating sports soft tissue injury in ice and snow sports, and it can relieve pain, and ameliorate lumbar mobility.
