Effect of Er: YAG laser in the treatment of patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome

  • Objective To observe the clinical effect of comprehensive nursing intervention in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) patients treated by Er: YAG laser.
Methods A total of 40 patients with mild OSAHS were selected and randomly divided into control group and study group, with 20 cases in each group. The control group was conducted with conventional nursing, while the study group was conducted with comprehensive nursing intervention.
Results The severity of snoring, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) score, the Epworth Somnolence Scale (ESS) score, the apnea hypopnea index (AHI) and mean apnea time in the study group were significantly lower or shorter than those in the control group (P < 0.05); the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) score in the study group during the three courses of treatment was significantly lower than those in the control group, while the clinical satisfaction degree in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion Implementation of comprehensive nursing intervention can improve the clinical efficacy of Er: YAG laser treatment for OSAHS, relieve pain, and increase satisfaction degree of patients.
