Objective To explore the relationships of blood glucose fluctuation with serum Omentin-1 and oxidative stress factors in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Methods A total of 134 patients with T2DM were selected as T2DM group, and 67 healthy people were selected as control group. A tracking detection of blood glucose in all the patients was conducted for 3 days by using continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS). Levels of blood glucose fluctuation parametersdiurnal mean amplitude of glycemic excursions (MAGE), standard deviation of blood glucose (SDBG), mean of daily differences (MODD), the largest amplitude of glycemic excursions (LAGE), serum Omentin-1 and oxidative stress factorsserum malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD), 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α (8-iso-PGF2α), catalase (CAT), glutathion peroxidase (GPX), glutathione (GSH), 8-hydroxylated deoxyguanosine (8-OHDG)were compared between the two groups. According to differed MAGE, T2DM patients were divided into glucose stabilization group (MAGE < 3.9 mmol/L) with 81 cases and glucose fluctuation group (MAGE≥3.9 mmol/L) with 53 cases, and levels of serum Omentin-1 and oxidative stress factors were compared between the two groups. The relationships of MAGE with serum Omentin-1 and oxidative stress factors were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis.
Results Levels of MAGE, SDBG, MODD, LAGE, MDA, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHDG in the T2DM group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the levels of Omentin-1, SOD, CAT, GPX and GSH were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01). Levels of Omentin-1, SOD, CAT, GPX and GSH in the glucose fluctuation group were significantly lower than those in the glucose stabilization group, while levels of MDA, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHDG were significantly higher than those in the glucose stabilization group (P < 0.01). Pearson correlation analysis showed that MAGE was negatively correlated with levels of serum Omentin-1, SOD, CAT, GPX and GSH, while was positively correlated with levels of MDA, 8-iso-PGF2α and 8-OHDG (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).
Conclusion T2DM patients have significant glucose fluctuation, which is closely related to levels of serum Omentin-1 and oxidative stress factors.
