Influencing factors and nursing strategies of hidden blood loss in patients with adult degenerative scoliosis undergoing posterior approach

  • Objective To investigate the influencing factors and nursing strategies of hidden blood loss (HBL) in patients with adult degenerative scoliosis (ADS) undergoing posterior approach.
Methods Eighty ADS patients who underwent posterior spinal surgery were selected as the study objects.Demographic characteristics and perioperative blood loss were retrospectively collected. The influencing factors of HBL were analyzed by multi-factor linear regression analysis.
Results Operation time, muscle thickness and allogeneic blood transfusion were independent risk factors for increased HBL in ADS patients (P < 0.05); female, autologous blood transfusion and intraoperative thermal blanket were independent protective factors for elevated HBL (P < 0.05).
Conclusion In view of the above independent risk factors of elevated HBL, the nursing staff should make preoperative preparation and strengthen the temperature management of ADS patients during the operation, so as to accelerate the recovery of patients and reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications.
