Abstract
In order to observe the relation between hormon levels and metabolism disturbances in child nephrotic syndrome, serum total T3,T4 and TSH in 3o cases of children with primary nephrotic syn drome were determined. Method: Each 15 cases respectively in active and remission phase was compaired with 18 cases of healthy or nonrelative pat1ents as control by determining the serum T3,T4 and TSH in RIA. It was found that in active phase T, (1. 41 ±0. 49nmol/L) and T, (52. 33± 29. 97)were lower than control(respectively 2. 751±1. 13 and 125. 4 ± 59. 25, t values respectively 4. 253 and 4. 701, P 0. 01 ). But tbey were near to control in remission phase(respectively 2. 66±0. 52 and 97. 01± 137. 38, P 0. 1 ). The level of serum T3 was releted negatively linearly with the quantity of proteinuria for 24 hours (r = -0. 6524, P 0. 05) and positively with serum albumin concentration(r = 0. 7284, P 0.01 ). The concer trations of serum TSH,respectively 18. 67± 12. 97(mU/L) in active phase and 2O. 43± 10. 36 in remission phase, were much higher than control(4. 34 ± 1. 77,t value respetively 4. 8O and 6. 503, P0. 01 ). The result shows that total levels of serum T, and T4 are decreased and related with proteinuria although the concentraions of serum TSH in ative or remission phase are increased The changes of serum hormones probably resulted in related. metabolism disturbances.
