Abstract
Form April 1989 to December l992, 14 patients who sufferred from upper GI bleedingdue to portal hypertention were treated with the method of transthoracic disconnective operation withgreater omentum wrapping the lung. The operation mortality was 2l. 4 %, among which Child's A andB patient's was l2. 5% (l/8), Child's C patients' 33. 3 % (2/6). The bleeding control rate was 100%.No recurrent bleeding or hepatic encephalopathy occurred in the follow - up- Ultrasonic examinationshowed that the diameters of the portal veins reduced gradually and then maintained at normal levels. Thismethod was a kind of " combined operation" with devascularization thorough, shunt reliable, and its usedeserved spreading.
