Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the long-term results of TURBt and partial cystectomy in treating superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Methods: 82 cases of initial superfical transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder from Jan 1989 to Jul 1995 were followed up ,which included 54 cases of TURBt group( T group ) and 28 cases of partial cystectomy group ( P group ) .Results:The time to the first recurrence of the two groups were 17.38±7.35 months and 27.56±22.21 months , the 1,2,3,5-year tumor recurrence rates were 10.3%, 24.1%, 35.2%, 36.4% in T group and 10.7%, 10.7%, 28.6%, 30.4% in P group ( P0.10 ).Conclusions:There was no significant difference by TURBt or partial cystectomy in treating superficial transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The advantages of TURBt were less trauma, less complication and repeatedly performable process, TURBt should be used as the first choice.
