Abstract
Objective To investigate the correlation between recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) and food intolerance (FI),food allergy (FA) in children. Methods A total of 55 children with RAP were selected as observation group and 50 healthy children were selected as control group. The levels of serum specific gastrointestinal hormone including IgG and IgE were detected. The level of white blood cell count, eosinophil count and C-reactive protein were observed. The distribution of FI and FA were compared between the two groups, and the correlation between FI and RAP was analyzed. Results In the two groups, the top three intolerance foods were milk (67.27% vs 18%),egg (50.91% vs 16%) and cod (41.82% vs 10%).The rate of intolerance in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group respectively (x2 =25.830,P =0.000;x2 =14.166,P =0.000;x2 =13.559,P =0.000).The rates of intolerance of corn, crab, mushroom, shrimp and soy in the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group respectively (P < 0.05).There was no significant difference in the rate of allergic food between the two groups (P > 0.05).The related factors of FI in children with RAP were the increase of white blood cells, eosinophils and C-reactive protein (P < 0.05).Conclusion FI may be an important cause of the occurrence of RAP.The related factors of FI in children with RAP are the increase of white blood cells, eosinophils and C-reactive protein.
