Abstract

Objective
To investigate the effect of olfactory intervention measures on the improvement of olfactory disturbance and quality of life of patients with pituitary tumor after operation.
Methods
The literature on the implementation of intervention measures in Cochrone, Scopus, EBSCO, Embase, Medine, CENTRAL, Web of Science, CINAHL, China Biomedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Network, Wanfang Database and VIP database were searched by computer. The retrieval time was form establishment to August 2022, and the form was combined with the main inscription and the free word. Meta-analysis was performed using Revman 5.3 software to analyze the literature.
Results
A total of 9 literatures were included, including 823 patients. The results of Meta-analysis showed that early olfactory intervention nursing for patients with pituitary tumor after surgery could effectively improve patients′ performance 1 week after surgery (SMD=-0.68; 95%CI, -1.28 to 0.08; P < 0.001) and postoperative 1 (SMD=1.05; 95%CI, 1.57 to 0.54; P < 0.000 1), 3 (SMD=0.96; 95%CI, 1.71 to 0.21; P=0.01) and 6 months (SMD=1.09; 95%CI, -1.79 to 0.40; P=0.002), and improved nasal function (SMD=-1.72; 95%CI, -2.81 to 0.63; P=0.002).
Conclusion
Postoperative olfactory nursing intervention can effectively improve the degree of olfactory disturbance in patients with pituitary tumor, improve their nasal function and enhance their quality of life.
