Abstract
Objective To analyze the intervention effect of disinfection by Swashes disinfectant solution and iodine containing disinfection on contamination rate of blood culture. Methods A total of 300 inpatients from December 2017 to November 2018 in infection department of our hospital were included in the control group and 300 cases from December 2018 to November 2019 were selected as observation group. The control group received iodine disinfection while the observation group was disinfected by Swashes disinfectant solution. The distribution of bacterial strains and contamination rate of blood culture in contaminated bottles were observed. Results In 3 100 bottles for blood culture, 177 had positive results for blood culture, with a positive rate of 5.70%, among which 40 were contaminated, with a contamination rate of 1.3%. In all contaminated bottles, the ratio of bacteria in a decreasing sequence was as follows: coagulase-negative staphylococci(75.0%), aerobic Gram-positive bacilli(15.0%), Streptococcus(7.5%), microorganism(2.5%). The contamination rate of blood culture in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group(0.5% versus 2.0%, P<0.05). Conclusion Swashes disinfectant solution can reduce contamination rate of blood culture, and has better effect in sterilizing.
