Abstract

Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can limit daily activities, seriously affect quality of life and cause great psychological burden in female patients. Epidemiological investigation confirmed that centripetal obesity was the high risk factor of SUI. At present, a series of research data has showed that the increase of basic intra-abdominal pressure was an important pathophysiological process of obesity leading to urinary incontinence. The effective management of obesity will help to control the basic intra-abdominal pressure, which is conducive to the treatment of urinary incontinence. Weight loss is the first-line treatment for obese women with SUI. Ketogenic diet is a special diet with high fat, low carbohydrate and moderate protein. Compared with the traditional diet, ketogenic diet can quickly reduce body weight, which is a new method for the treatment of obese women with SUI.
