Objective To analyze conditions of Mycoplasma genitalium infection and drug resistance in HaiKou area.
Methods A commercial kit was used to test Ureaplasma urealytium (Uu) and Mycoplasma humanum (Mh) as well as drug sensitivity in the secretions of 10 109 patients with suspected genital tract infections, and the results were statistically analyzed.
Results Mycoplasma was detected in the genital tract specimens of 3 491 patients(34.53%), with a higher rate of positivity in females (37.25%) than in males (12.94%). The patients positive for Mycoplasma were mainly in the age group of 21 to 40 years old. The positive rate of Uu infection was 32.04%, was 0.41% for Mh infection, and was 2.09% for Uu combined with Mh infection. The drug sensitivity test results showed that Mycoplasma was resistant to ciprofloxacin and 14 as well as 15 metacyclic macrolide antimicrobials, with the drug resistance rate of 90.24% and above, and the resistance rate to josamycin, doxycycline and minocycline were≤11.37%.
Conclusion Mycoplasma genitalium infections in Haikou area are predominantly simple Uu, and the infection rate is much higher in women than in men, and josamycin, doxycycline and minocycline should be selected as priority drugs in clinical treatment.
